Bitcoin Water Trust Charity Grows to Over $2 million
You can donate sats and help change lives.
Over 100 Bitcoins have been donated to The Bitcoin Water Trust, a not-for-profit with the goal of bringing clean, safe drinking water to people around the globe. According to the organization, 771 million people around the world lack access to clean and safe drinking water. You can help change that, by donating any amount of Bitcoin. No donation is too small.
Famous Bitcoin Billionaires and Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have personally donated 25 Bitcoins each to the cause. Other notable Bitcoiners who have donated a full Bitcoin:
Tony Hawk
Bill Miller
Lyn Alden
Peter McCormack
Scott Melker
Mike Novogratz
The Trust estimates they could bring safe drinking water to over 40,000 people right now, but they bigger goals in mind. All Bitcoin in the Trust will be held (HODLed) until at least 2025 to let the value of the trust grow. The 2025 date corresponds with the next Bitcoin Halving, making Bitcoin even more scarce.
Answers to some FAQ about the program:
The Trust accepts only Bitcoin at this time.
Donations are tax-deductible in the US.
You may donate anonymously or post any nickname you want on the donation board.
All Bitcoin is held in “cold storage” by Gemini.
You can also donate and elect to have it all used immediately for water projects.
Below is the link to The Bitcoin Water Trust. I donated to the trust, and it was pretty simple, had the sats sent directly from my Gemini account.
This Week in Bitcoin History:
Five years ago this week, this Bitcoiner photo-bombed Janet Yellen’s live testimony in front of Congress on national TV. Love his smile. 😂
Bitcoin Conference Returns to Miami Beach in 2023
The Miami Beach Convention Center will once again be the site of the largest Bitcoin conference in the world. Next year’s event will be held May 18th through 20th. Just three blocks from Miami Beach’s “party strip” on Collins Avenue, the conference should once again be a highlight of the year for Bitcoiners.
Several speakers have already been lined up for 2023, even though it’s ten months away. They include:
Michael Saylor, CEO, MicroStrategy Corp.
Lyn Alden, Financial Analyst
Stacey Herbert, Partner, El Zonte Capital
Cory Klippsten, CEO, Swan, Inc.
Anthony Pompliano, Investor, Pomp Investors
Dozens more are sure to be announced in the coming months. It promises to be a great event, just like 2022. Top-notch speakers like Kevin O’Leary, Michael Saylor, Serena Williams, Greg Foss, Aaron Rodgers, and many more highlighted Bitcoin Conference ‘22.
The conference is put on by Bitcoin Magazine. Over 30,000 Bitcoiners attended this year. I have my ticket. Can’t wait.
